Simple Sausage Stir-Fry

I really love stir-fry, well, the idea of stir-fry. We've had it lots of times before; we've had it different ways, with different meats and veggies, with different sauces. But I really just like to keep it simple, and also yummy.
This simple sausage stir-fry is one of our favourites though. It's so simple, it's so tasty, it's so...some other third thing.

Simple Sausage Stir-Fry

  • Olive or coconut oil, approximately 2 tablespoons
  • 5-6 sausages (to keep this gluten-free or paleo, be sure your sausages contain no wheat or gluten, and are sugar free). If you don't care about either of those things, use whatever you want!
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed and diced
  • 1 Onion, cut into thick strips
  • 1 sweet bell peppers, cut into thick strips
  • 2-4 Tbsp Frank's RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce. Use more or less depending on how you like spiciness-but know that Franks does loose a bit of it's kick when it's heated. Worst case scenario, you sit down to eat it, and it needs more kick. You can just add another shake or two right onto your food. No problamo.
  • 1 heaping cup of snow peas or snap peas, whichever you prefer. Snow peas were on sale, so I picked them this time

Method:

  1. Heat a large frying pan on medium/high heat, and add 1 tbsp of the oil. Add sausages to the pan and cook, turning often for even cooking, for 15 minutes (until they are firm to the touch, but still look juicy). If you're not sure if they're done, cut one open. I often like to put a few little slits down the sausage so that it will lay down flat for complete brownage. That's not a real word.
  2. Remove the sausage from the heat, and put onto a plate, and wrap it with aluminum foil to keep warm.
  3. Add the 2nd tablespoon of oil to the pan, then add the garlic and onions, scraping up the nice browned sausage bits from the bottom of the pan to get all the flavour worked into the onion.
  4. After about 5 minutes, and the onions are sweating and have nice colour, add the peppers. Sauté for 4-5 minuets, just until they are getting brighter, and a little bit softer.
  5. Add the Frank's, and stir around to incorporate all of the flavours together.
  6. Lastly, add the snap peas, gently stir it all up together, and give the peas 3 minutes tops in the pan.
  7. Divide veggies onto plates, and top with a sausage. Serve with a side of salad, or make some rice, or potatoes, or whatever you want!

The idea for the veggies in a stir fry is that they don't get all soggy (yuk!). They just need a few minutes in the pan to get hot, pick up some flavours, get some colour, then get the heck outta that pan!

Well, that's it! It doesn't seem like much of a recipe, but it works around here, and it's ready in under half an hour, so, it's a winner!
For real though, I eat Franks Red Hot Sauce almost everyday. I am this lady. If you're not familiar with Frank's, try it! It's literally just 5 ingredients, gluten-free, sugar-free, vegan, paleo, low carb, low calorie, there have even been studies that show cayenne peppers (and other hot chili peppers) boost your metabolism. It's everything you could ask for in a condiment! O.k, maybe that's a little dramatic, but it's honestly not just a blinding hot sauce that leaves you tasting nothing because it torched your tastebuds. C'mon, be a grown-up, try something new!  :)
