Good Monday morning to ya! It is a fantastically crisp fall day here in North Eastern Ontario, and I'm loving it! As the sun comes up the frost on the grass melts, you can smell the fallen leaves, your cheeks are chilled at first, then start to warm in the sun. The kids and I stood facing the sun this morning while waiting for the bus. We closed our eyes and just stood there, letting the sun warm us up and cheer us up too. Seriously, getting some sun shining on your face can brighten your mood! My middle child sure needed it this morning (she was grumpy!), and after a few minutes standing in the sun she said she felt better : ) Anyway, a wonderful fall day aside, I wanted to share today about some things that I have used and enjoyed on my journey through living a healthier life! One thing that is important (to me, and I realize this isn't true for everyone), is wanting to know what food does! What kind of fuel does it provide for my body, what extra vitamins or minerals are hiding in foods that can help improve immunity, or combat depression, or anxiety? I want to get the most from my food, and doing that means I need to know about the food! Scientific studies indicate that food profoundly influences our emotional and physical wellbeing in the short term and in the long term, which is why what we eat is crazy important!!! My friend, Jennifer Lannon who is the health and wellness expert from RealFoodHeals.com created a course to teach people about some of the most common health conditions and diseases, and how you can heal your body naturally from them, by using food as your medicine! She approached me asking if I would give the course "Using Food As Medicine" a try, and I found so much of the information helpful! I think my husband got a little sick of hearing me shouting to him from the computer, "Hey! Did you know that cherries can help with chronic pain?!?", or, "Did you know menthol can prevent muscle spasms!?!". The course, which is a series of videos that are divided up into 4 weeks so that you receive new videos each week teaches you about things like immunity boosters, detoxification strategies, healing from chronic pain, and even a personal lesson from on healing infertility, which she struggled with. There is a fee for the course, but Jennifer has extended a 20% discount to anyone who purchases the course through me here! Hooray for discounts! : ) Just click on this link (or any other highlighted blue spot!) to register and purchase your course! If your body is suffering from limiting health conditions or ailments, if you find feel sluggish, foggy in the head, experience headaches and migraines, back and neck pains, stomach pains, if you’re struggling with obesity, worried about getting heart disease or cancer, if you suffer from type 2 diabetes, or are low on energy and frequently tired even after you’ve had a good night’s rest- then you may want to take this course! Jennifer has learned through working in the health and wellness field for over 12 years, studying holistic nutrition extensively, and becoming a certified Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist that eating a real food diet, instead of the standard American diet (SAD), can not only help you to get to a healthy weight, but it can also help you find relief from many painful symptoms and disorders that result from poor health. The course covers fatigue, anxiety, depression, hormonal health, thyroid health, obesity & weight loss, and gall bladder health. She’ll even teach you how to take care of your liver, which performs many essential functions (500 of them!!! That's one busy organ!) related to digestion, metabolism, immunity, and the storage of nutrients within the body. So, the "Using Food As Medicine" course is one thing I enjoyed (and still enjoy re-watching) and learning about the power of food in my life! The second thing I want to share about is where I get a lot of my health foods! Where I live there isn't many great options for getting health foods. I can find some things at some grocery stores "near-by" (40 minutes away!), but the selections are limited. So, I went on a hunt for online stores with health foods (that also ship to Canada!!!), and I found a gem! Vitacost.com offers a large variety of foods, and all at prices that are up to 50% cheaper than retail prices!
Above are some of my favourite products from Vitacost.com. They have most brand names you would be looking for, but they also sell their own brand which offers an even steeper discount. For instance, that 40-oz bag of tapioca flour is only (U.S.D.) $5.99! It's crazy! That's still only about $8 Canadian, which is literally still half price from what I'd pay in the grocery store! Hot-diggity-dog! Haha, gosh I'm a geek....
Below is a link for a special October promotion, if ya wanna check it out! Anyway, I am not a huge shopping online person because I would rather support my local stores, but in some cases online shopping is the only option, and if that "only option" also offers crazy good prices, well, hooray for me! : ) Below is a link for Vitacost.com's coupon page, my favourite page. I'm sure that doesn't surprise you! And those, my friends, are a few of my favourite things! Learning about how food can heal, and then being able to find some of those healing foods at great prices are things that thrill me! : ) Yes, what I've included today are affiliates (people I've partnered with), but they are companies & products I believe in and would not tell you about them if I thought they sucked! Just want to be open & honest with you! Do you have a favourite product, book, course, or website about health & wellness that you love? Please do share it with me!
