Hey! In this installment of Motivational Monday I bring to you a funny little song from WhatsUpMoms. I'm not sure how I found them, but they have some funny parody videos and some awesome life hacks for Moms. This parody song "Make It All" is about us Pinterest happy people out there. I'll admit I'm more of a recipe hoarder on Pinterest, and I don't own any glitter at all, but I still found this really funny. : ) Enjoy! My Health & Fitness post today is about some of my favourite healthy foods, so go check that out if you are looking for some ideas! K, bye now.

Just wanted to share some funny quotes and images from a t.v. show called "The Middle". Sue is my favourite character.....because I am Sue.... :) "The Middle" is a fantastic show on ABC showing the reality of a quirky blue collar family. Sue is the middle child and known for “failing with gusto”. She has never made it into anything she’s tried out for.....though, she was on the track team in high school.....because it was a no-cut team. She also invented a team, "The Wrestlerettes"-cheerleaders for the wrestling team. Her parents have forgotten her birthday, and her first and middle names are “Sue”, as it was mistakenly written down twice on her birth certificate. But really, she is hilariously optimistic, and I just think she's a hoot! Sue having a conversation with her brother Axl Sue: All right, Axl, what is going on? Axl: What? Nothing. Sue: Oh, please. You didn't shoot any straws at me at the restaurant. You didn't lick my bread and then put it back on my plate. The whole day you have been calling me "Sue" Sue and her Dad Mike having a conversation at a College Tour: Mike: It's not like you're Native American. Sue: Yes, I am. Mike: No, Sue, you're not. Sue: Sure I am. I mean, that's what I put on my forms. Mike: What? Why'd you do that? Sue: 'cause I'm a Native of America!! I'm a Native American!!! Sue trying to decide on a college: "Okay, I finished my list of Pros and Cons. I have 75 Pros and 86 Super-Pros. I don't have any Cons because it just seems so negative, and they all tried so hard!" Happy Monday! Hello! So, I guess today is a p.a. day for my kids.....? They already had a p.a. day earlier in February (and on a Thursday, no less!), and there has been at least 5 snow/ice/buses cancelled days this month, there was Family Day, and good grief, I should have just kept my children home all month! I estimate the children went to school for 15 days or so this month......golly. I'm not complaining really, I'm just getting it all out there. Oh, anyway, today is February 29th, so happy birthday to all those who haven't had a 'real' birthday to celebrate for 4 years!!! : ) Alright now, a meme (rhyming with "team") is "an activity, concept, catchphrase or piece of media which spreads, often as mimicry, from person to person via the internet" (thanks Wikipedia). I've included a clever meme about memes below. Anyway, that's what an internet meme is. The 'real' meaning of the word is similar but different, and too boring to mention, so let's move on! Haha! I wanted to share some funny health food memes with you today because they all made me laugh out loud, and if you're feeling like me, and like this February was possibly the longest month EVER, then ya'll need to laugh!! Enjoy! Good, right? So good. Well, on my Health & Fitness post for today I share a little piece from an article by Maddy Moon. It talks about how we often weigh our value on what we've eaten. "I'm a strong person because I ate clean all day!", or "I am a failure because I totally broke down and ate a tub of ice cream" are things we consciously or unconsciously tell ourselves, but shouldn't. So, check out my post, You Are Worth More, to read the article from Maddy Moon, and a few of my own thoughts too. Happy Monday! Yup, it's Tuesday! Yesterday was Family Day in Ontario, so it was a holiday! We took the kids skating (shamefully, it was our 6 and 7 year olds first time ever skating!), and just enjoyed the day together! I also felt like it was a Sunday until I went to bed, which is when I remembered it was actually Monday and I hadn't posted a blog, but I wasn't about to do it at that point! So, here we are, another Motivational Monday post on a Tuesday!!! At least you know I am a very real person, right?!? And speaking of real, my Health & Fitness post today is about "Keeping it Real" Real Interesting", so check that out if you ever have been, are, or will be in a health & fitness rut! Here I'm sharing an image of some famous foods renamed that crack me up! It's a "it's funny because it's true" kind of humour. I found these at smooth.com (there's 20 total, I'm just sharing 6) Enjoy! Anywhoooo, it's snowing like crazy here, and the buses are cancelled, so the kids and I will have another fun day (hopefully!), and I hope you have a good day too! Good Monday! For today's brief motivation I give you something clever, something inspiring and something funny. Spoiler alert-I'm the funny thing! Seriously, the last photo is of me and how I look every morning (at least in the winter!) when I'm doing the chores. People who meet me in this state and then see me in other seasons are surprised I'm not 100lbs heavier because of how puffy my winter appearance is (I do wear about 5 layers!), and I was even once mistaken for a man dressed in my winter chore gear! That's a confidence builder! I am sharing that terrible photo because on my Health & Fitness page I share my thoughts and tips about working out while injured. And last week while walking out to do the chores I had a nasty fall and found myself needing to workout while avoiding certain strained muscles! Anyway, here we go! Clever.... Inspirational.... Funny.... It's all there, folks. Me in all my winter farming glory! : ) When I get in from doing chores I am usually soaked in sweat because I am an excessively sweaty person normally, but then you add all the layers, then add the physical work going into the chores (lugging logs to fill our outdoor wood boiler, hauling water, throwing hay and shovelling sh-.....uh, poop), and I get back inside just soaked. Then, because our house tends to be on the cooler side, if I don't get changed out of said sweaty clothes quickly, I freeze! So, I usually run inside and get dressed into dry clothes a.s.a.p. then make myself some coffee, and all is well! It's part of my routine, part of my life, gets me out and moving first thing in the day, and I enjoy it! Have a great Mon-day! : ) Ahhhh! It's Tuesday now!!! I'm sorry, I apparently suck at Motivational Monday's because they keep ending before I've done any motivating! Whomp whomp. I had a busy day yesterday, and then after I had gotten home in the evening I just ate a snack and went to bed and forgot to post anything! Oops. Please do forgive me! Let's move on, shall we? For today's (random) Motivational Monday, (or any random day I see fit) I present a man who never fails to crack me up! His name is Zach Anner! He is "an award-winning comedian, show host, and public speaker. In 2011, he won his own travel show on the Oprah Winfrey Network, Rollin' With Zach. He also hosted the shows Have A Little Faith for Rainn Wilson's media company SoulPancake, and Riding Shotgun and Workout Wednesdays on his own YouTube channel, which has over 10 million hits. Zach lives in Buffalo, NY and Austin, TX, and spends most of his spare time in his underwear, thinking about how he can change the world" (I yanked this little bio from Zach's website for his book, "If At Birth You Don't Succeed". Great name for a book, eh?!) Please watch the video! Just do it! It's only 3 1/2 minutes out of your life, and you'll laugh, and feel happier, and that will motivate you to do whatever it is you need to do! : ) And, once you've watched it, and done your pull-ups, head over to my Health & Fitness page to read about Weight Loss vs. Fat Loss. There is a difference ya know! Well, short and sweet today! See you later you world wide webbers! : ) I know it's Wednesday, but this is still my Motivational Monday! So, just pretend it isn't Wednesday, just for now. I had a different post ready for the new year, but then I changed my mind about it because the pastor at our church spoke about zeal, and it got me thinking. How many things do we do in a day with little to no effort, no passion whatsoever, no zeal at all. Zeal is defined as great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective. I like this definition too: "fervour for a person, cause, or object; eager desire or endeavour; enthusiastic diligence; ardor" I am not one for new years resolutions, mostly because they are unrealistic. I've talked about having hope for a new year, and last year I shared some thoughts on just generally aiming to become a better person, but now I desire to have some zeal! What does zeal look like? For one, it looks like the 2 beautiful woman in the photo below. Those lovely ladies are my sisters, Andrea & Sharon, and they are zealous about helping refugees. The Brantford Expositor ran a story about the Brantford Cares-Refugee Response Team and their extremely zealous efforts to support a family that is displaced because of the wars in the Middle East (here's another article they ran about it too). A portion of the article says, "Contributors to the effort have already bested an online fundraising goal of $32,000. And now the group is aiming higher with a new goal of $52,000 to enable sponsorship of a second Syrian family to Brantford, Richardson said". You don't raise that much money without a real passion and drive! Deciding to sponsor a family requires a great deal of time, research, and commitment though, but as Sharon said in the article, "The weight of that responsibility doesn't escape me, but the weight of doing nothing is greater". My wonderful friend Kelly has a heart for the homeless in Belleville and is raising money to open a shelter, Grace Inn, that focuses on "community, mentorship and dignity". There are many road blocks ahead for my friend, but I am confident that her zeal for the homeless will see her dreams become a reality. To support Kelly's effort, check out Hope for the Homeless in Belleville gofundme page. What can you be zealous about this year? You can have zeal in giving, sharing & being forgiving. Be a peace keeper, or a peace maker. be zealously joyful and pass it around! Zeal doesn't have to be a big thing, its a matter of your will and a drive in your heart. Galatians 4:18 says that "it is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good"-so set out with purpose to do good, and to do it with fervour! The thing that really (really!) stuck with me about what our pastor said was that I need to have zeal in my own life to fight for what matters most to me and what God has given me! My family, my body and health, my home, my resources, and for anything else I know God has for me! I don't know what this year holds for me yet, I have some ideas, but there is a lot unknown. So, I want to journey though this year with intention, with drive and with zeal. Oh, and on my Health & Fitness page I talk about zeal in health & fitness, so check that out! Can you think of something you could be zealous about this year? Share with me! Share zealously! :) xoxo Happy New Year!!! Good Monday! Check out my Health & Fitness page for today's post about staying healthy during the holidays! It's just 5 tips to help you get through in one piece (and hopefully close to the one piece size you started at!) : ) Well, to motivate you today I want to encourage you to be kind to those around you! However you celebrate the season, everyone can show kindness! Some simple ideas are smiling, holding the door open for someone, or paying for the bill of the person behind you in a drive-thru. You can do small things that'll make a big difference to someone! Well, ya know I love to laugh, so I'm sharing some funny Christmas stuff to cheer you up for the week leading into Christmas day! The Holiday TreatsThe Christmas GiftsThe Christmas CardPerfect treats, perfect gifts, perfect card. Perfect Christmas! Hahaha, I love it so much. I hope everyone is ready (emotionally!) for this week! We have more get-togethers to go to, we plan to see more friends and family, and can hopefully stay positive and enjoy ourselves! I've had a few good workouts since getting here (including my Extreme 10 Minute HIIT), but, uh....I forgot my sports bra, so they've been very humbling workouts. Hahahaha, overshare?!? Well, fear not, I went to Winners today and acquired a sports bra so I can feel a little more confident during my workouts! Well, peace be to you all, many happy returns of the day, kind regards, etc. etc., the end. I keep thinking I need a theme song for motivational Monday....anybody want to write me one...? Well, a theme song would go really well with the new Christmas Classic story I told on my Health & Fitness page. I jest....but you should go and read it. : ) What I was really sharing about over there was High Intensity Interval Training (or HIIT) and how amazing it is! It's quick, it requires no equipment, and it'll leave you feeling like you've just run a marathon....but you've only been giving it your all for a short, 10 minute workout. I know, amazing. So check it out by clicking........here. So, motivating you today is my motto for life... ....am I right? Full disclosure time. Adam is working at the same place but is temporarily on strait days (meaning he works 7-4 everyday). But this means he doesn't carpool anymore because not everyone works strait days. Well, I am left home now without a vehicle at all. So, I wake up, get the kids ready and on the bus for school. I do the animal chores, fill the outdoor wood stove, then I do the dishes....yadda, yadda, yadda. The day ticks by and I remain in my p.j.'s because, well, why the heck would I take them off!?! I'm not going anywhere! No one is going to see me! I do wear coveralls when I do the chores outside so my jammies don't get poopy or sooty, but that's about all the caution I take. So, that funny little quote up there is me in a nutshell (look, it's me in a nutshell!). Want to know when I do finally get out of my p.j.'s? When it's time to workout. Usually between 1-2pm I will workout, and that'll get me out of my sleepy clothes! Because even though I may not care if I look like someone who just rolled out of bed, I want that bod under those wrinkled pajamas to be in great shape! So, read the Health & Fitness post about getting in an awesome HIIT workout, invest a little into yourself, and have a wonderful day! xo Late Motivational Monday! This day got away from me in a big way! I really started the day feeling overwhelmed with what I needed to do, then I took a few deep breaths....and made more coffee. : ) I had a really good weekend though, it was busy, but festive and fun! There is a strange lack of snow 'round here, but what can you do!?! I love Canada still, with or without snow! It did make all our activities this weekend easier though because of not needing to bundle up so much! Thumbs up! Anyway, over on my Health & Fitness Page, I share a website called I'mperfectlife.net. Andrea, the author and fitness buff, is a motivation to me! She is a real woman, with a real body. She is strong, works hard, and is confident in who she is! She challenges the way I think about my body, and about passing judgement. So, head over to that article, "I'mperfect Life Inspiration", and see if you aren't challenged about how you see beauty & strength! Today, right here, the motivation I want to pass on another reason to laugh! I can't help it! Laughing just makes you feel better!!! .....Ok, just one more!!! : ) That's all! Don't forget to check out today's real post over on the Health & Fitness page, and also stop by I'mperfectlife.net too! |
